NEORQC Getaway
1. Turkish Flowers Like the look of appliqué but know it is often a time consuming project? Would you like to cut the completion time in half? Stencil part of the pattern and no one will know. Really! Using patterns from Linda M. Poole’s beautiful Turkish Flowers book, we can stencil the smallest pieces and appliqué the rest. The authentic Iznik tiles in Instanbul’s Topkapi Palace captured the author’s attention and inspired her Karen of beautiful, unusual flowers. Karen Auer (440) 777-1269 kauer@adelphia.net Intermediate 2. Wearable Art Jacket Make this remarkable quilted jacket. This is a loose fitting, lined jacket. You
can select your size by trying on my prepared muslins. I can fit anyone! I
will draft a pattern for you if needed. The right front has several
fabrics, the sleeves, back and left front are one focus fabric. I provide
instructions for you to prepare the textured focus fabric before class.
In class we design the right front of the jacket, cut out and assemble
the jacket and lining. The jacket edges are finished with a quilt binding.
This jacket is easy to make, if you can make a quilt you can make this
jacket. It is not a sweatshirt based jacket. Most will complete jacket up to
the binding in class. Book: Fiber & Cloth by Debra Youngs. Jean Bailey (440) 236-8860 JWBailey97@aol.com All 3. Intermediate Domestic Machine Quilting Improve and expand your domestic machine quilting techniques and patterns on practice sandwiches. We will go beyond “just filling the spaces” and design quilting patterns that enhance your quilt tops. Part of the class will involve quilting a small whole cloth, using a medallion center with trapunto, unique stippling patterns and elaborating simple feathers. Not for beginning machine quilters. Some experience required. Mary Bernower (330) 821-6428 blbernr@neo.rr.com All 4. Fabric Oil Painting Connie Bloom
Intermediate Yes, you can paint with fabric, but first you cry while you cut up your expensive batiks and
solids into tiny pieces to make a woodland wallhanging! It’s OK though because you create
a bit of magic when you start “mixing” your snippets of color together to create your Connie Bloom (330) 472-0161 connie@conniebloom.com Intermediate 5. Flying South or Sunflower Illusions AJudy Niemeyer has created marvelous paper pieced designs. 7. Feathered Star Medallion This is one of my most popular workshops. I teach this it using a From Marti Michell Template Set P ($22), which includes the templates for a 27” feathered star and complete instructions for piecing and settings as illustrated by the two photos. Marti has also designed a Feathered Star Medallion, which is a full size quilt (pattern $10) and students have the option of using the workshop block as the beginning of that quilt. The purpose of the workshop is to introduce students to rotary cutting templates and to help them refine the accuracy of their piecing skills. The success students have is always impressive as long as they have basic piecing skills under their belt. Mary Huey 440-227-6391 mary@maryhueyquilts.com Intermediate 8.
Omiyage Pine Cone Pouch

11. Twinkle 84 X 98 Designed by Cheryl Wittmayer,
this quilt is a great opportunity to showcase all of those large print fabrics that you own. You
can use as many as 168 different prints, or as few as four fabrics as the block backgrounds. I
have sewn up different styles of fabrics, and it looks good using brights, black and white, as well
as country or primitive. You can see different examples of the blocks on my blog: Linda Sekerak 12. Fibonacci’s Trip Here’s Judy’s original twist on the traditional “Trip around the World” pattern! With strips of 8 different fabrics cut in 5 different sizes, we’ll explore the world in perfect harmony and create a quilt approximately 40” square. Judi Smith 440.946.2381 jkskks8291@att.net All 13. The Gift Nelly has adapted this artsy, dynamic design to make a stained glass wall quilt so
that she can introduce you to this appealing appliqué technique using fusible bias
tape to “lead” the design. The Gift is a great design that can be constructed in any Nelly Vileikis (330) 995-5218 nellyvileikis@aol.com All 14. Open Studio This self-directed class gives you the opportunity to finish some UFOs or start a project you just haven’t had time to begin. There will not be a teacher assigned to this class so you’ll be on your own to use the scheduled class time to work at your own pace. Having a problem with a technique or fabric choices? Ask the class to see if someone can offer some advice. Learned a new trick? Offer to show it to the rest of the class. A great way to enjoy the fellowship of the weekend, while working on your own project. LIMITED
